CanSkate / Pre-CanSkate

CANSKATE – for skaters 5 years of age and older

CanSkate is Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program for beginners of any age that teaches fundamental movements and basic skills. Skaters are taught in a group lesson format by a NCCP certified professional coach. CanSkate is designed for future figure, hockey, ringette, speed or recreational skaters.

Skaters earn ribbons and badges as skills are mastered.

The CanSkate program is offered in two sessions – The Fall session which runs from October to December and the Winter session which runs from January to March/April.

Skaters may register for the Fall session, the Winter session or both sessions, Fall and Winter.

CanSkate is offered on the following days and times:
Monday 6:00-6:50 pm Manotick arena
Tuesday 6:00-6:50 pm Fred Barrett arena
Thursday 6:00-6:50 pm Manotick arena
Friday 6:00-6:50 pm Manotick arena
Saturday 11:30 am – 12:20 pm Manotick arena (Fall session only)
Saturday 9:30-10:20 am Manotick arena (Winter session only)

Skaters must be five (5) years of age by September 1, 2017.

CSA approved hockey helmets are mandatory for all CanSkaters.

PRE-CANSKATE – for skaters 3 and 4 years of age

Our Pre-CanSkate program is designed to assist younger skaters, ages 3 and 4 to learn to skate. Participants learn to walk and gain balance to progress to gliding and then towards the fundamental movements on the ice.

Skaters earn ribbons and badges as skills are mastered.

The Pre-CanSkate program is offered in two sessions – The Fall session which runs from October to December and the Winter session which runs from January to March/April.

Skaters may register for the Fall session, the Winter session or both sessions, Fall and Winter.

Pre-CanSkate is offered on the following days and times:
Monday 6:00-6:50 pm Manotick arena
Tuesday 6:00-6:50 pm Fred Barrett arena
Saturday 11:00-11:30 am Manotick arena (Fall session only)
Saturday 9:00-9:30 am Manotick arena (Winter session only)

Skaters must be three years of age by September 1, 2017.

CSA approved hockey helmets are mandatory for all Pre-CanSkaters.

In both our CanSkate and Pre-CanSkate programs. our coaches are assisted by trained Program Assistants. Our Program Assistants attend a training course each year to ensure they have the skills necessary to assist our Professional Coaches to deliver a quality, safe program that is also fun for the children.

Note that both the CanSkate and Pre-Canskate sessions are learn-to-skate programs.    

2017-18 PROGRAM FEES

Program fees are based on the number of weeks the program runs. Different numbers of weeks are offered on the different skating days. Please see the on-line registration system for full details on the fees.

All fees must be paid in full prior to any skater being permitted on the ice.
